Swinerton Future Builders Scholarship

Purpose:
The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship support to students pursuing careers in the architecture, engineering, construction, and related building industries.

Swinerton Builders is committed to strengthening the future workforce of the construction industry through education, mentorship, workforce development, and community engagement. The Fund is established to reduce financial barriers, increase awareness of career pathways within the building industry, and support students whose experiences, leadership, and perspectives will contribute to the continued growth, innovation, and success of the industry.

Beyond financial assistance, the scholarship may provide recipients with opportunities to engage with Swinerton employees through mentorship, job shadowing, project site visits, educational events, and other professional development activities that help explore career pathways within the building industry.

Criteria:
The scholarship recipient shall:
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and not be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid.
• Have financial need as determined by FAFSA/CAFSA and the University’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
• Be enrolled at least half-time (6 or more credit hours) during the semester the scholarship is received.
• Be an undergraduate student.
• Have a declared major within the University’s Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology.
• Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher during the semester the award is received (transfer students must have a transfer grade point average of 2.5 or higher).
• Submit a written essay of approximately 750 words addressing the following prompts:
o What interests you about a career in the building industry?
o How do you contribute meaningfully to your community through leadership, community involvement, volunteer service, campus engagement or participation in activities that support the advancement of architecture, engineering, and construction industry?
o If awarded the Swinerton Future Builders Scholarship, how do you intend to leverage your exposure to Swinerton Builders to support your academic and professional goals?

Recipients of this scholarship may be considered for future internship or employment opportunities with the Swinerton Builders.

Preference is given to students entering their junior or senior year.

This scholarship is renewable for multiple academic years for those recipients who reapply and continue to satisfy all eligibility requirements.
