Student Teaching Scholarship (RF 25th Anniversary)

Purpose:
Teaching requires everything you have — your time, your energy, and your full presence. Residency and student teaching are no exception. This scholarship exists to support teacher education students for whom the financial demands of an unpaid, full-time placement create a genuine hardship.

Criteria:

  • Be enrolled in one of the School of Education’s programs and be eligible for Student Teaching in their program.
  • Be student teaching or in residency during Fall 2026
  • Colorado residents (as defined by MSU Denver)
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Submit an essay in 250–500 words that tell us about your current financial situation and how the time commitment of your residency or student teaching placement has affected your ability to earn income. You do not need to provide a budget or specific dollar amounts. Instead, help us understand:
    • What your financial circumstances look like during this placement — including any obligations such as housing, family responsibilities, loans, or other financial pressures you are managing
    • How the demands of your placement have limited your ability to work or earn income during this period
    • How receiving this scholarship would allow you to focus more fully on your clinical experience and your preparation as a teacher
