Barb Biggs Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Purpose:
The Fund exists to provide scholarships to deserving undergraduate students with an interest in water and the environment who are enrolled in the water studies minor, the water studies certificate, or has declared a major within a related field of study at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Barb Biggs was a pioneering, legendary leader. Throughout her career, her life, Barb continuously championed the opportunity to provide support for students sharing in her passion to “work in the world of water”, hence the very genesis behind the creation of the Barb Biggs Memorial Endowment. Barb Biggs served on the following groups:
• The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB)
• Colorado Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC)
• Colorado Water & Wastewater Facility operator Certification Board
• CWCB Metro Basin Roundtable
• Colorado Water Trust Board of Directors
• Advisory Council member for the One World One Water (OWOW) Center at Metropolitan State University of Denver
• National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA)
Proof of Barb’s leadership, passion and acumen was evidenced through her induction into the National Association of Clean Water Agency’s Hall of Fame in 2015.
Criteria:
The scholarship recipient shall:
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and not be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid
• Have a current general scholarship application on file
• Be an undergraduate student
• Be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours during the semester the award is received
• Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0
• Be enrolled in the water studies minor, the water studies certificate, or have a declared major within a related field of study
• Write an essay (approximately 500 words) about why you are interested in pursuing a career in public policy issues involving the complicated matters of water policy and related political issues.
