Beacon Pointe Advisors Annual Scholarship

Purpose:
The Fund is established to provide scholarships to students pursuing a career in finance.

Beacon Pointe Advisors (Beacon Pointe), with a Colorado office, is one of the nation’s largest Registered Investment Advisory firms working with institutions, defined contribution plans, and high-net-worth individuals and families. It is passionate about its people comprised of talented, diverse professionals dedicated to maintaining and uplifting company culture and a premier service experience for clients. Beacon Pointe believes in supporting new talent entering the financial services industry, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. By financially supporting students, mentoring them, and helping to guide their career paths, Beacon Pointe hopes to contribute to students’ lives and enrich the financial services talent pipeline.

Criteria:
• Be meeting MSU Denver’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state, or institutional aid
• Be a Colorado resident
• Be an undergraduate senior or rising senior with a declared major in Finance
• Have a cumulative GPA of2.75 or higher
• Demonstrate financial need up to 2x Pell-eligible (moderate financial need) as determined by the University’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships based on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Colorado Application for State Financial Aid (CASFA)
• Provide a 300-word essay responding to the following question: “Tell us what inspires you to pursue a career in the financial services sector, what your career goals might be, and how this scholarship will assist your aspirations.”
• Be enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, the University’s Security Analysis and Portfolio Management course (FIN 4600) or Advanced Investment Management course (FIN 4660) during the year of their scholarship
• Meet with a representative of Beacon Pointe Advisors at least once per semester for mentoring opportunities during the academic year

Preference will be given to students from populations that are underrepresented in the financial industry.

Preference is for the scholarship to be awarded to one student, split fall/spring semester.

Preference is for the scholarship to be awarded to a student who wants to pursue a career in the financial services industry, such as wealth advisory, financial planning, investment, banking, insurance, etc.

U.S. citizens and DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) students are eligible.

Selected students will be eligible to apply for an internship with Beacon Pointe Advisors.
