Changemakers in Design Scholarship

Purpose:
The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship support to students who are interested in a career in design or architecture.
Anderson Mason Dale Architects is a full-service design firm based in Denver, Colorado, serving the Rocky Mountain West for nearly 50 years. Anderson Mason Dale Architects values people, placemaking, and design excellence. The Fund is established to provide scholarship support to students who are interested in a career in design and increase students’ exposure to careers in architecture. Financial support alongside mentorship and job shadowing opportunities will aim to increase University students’ confidence to pursue a career in design or architecture, regardless of their undergraduate degree program.

Criteria:
The scholarship recipient shall:
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid.
• Have financial need as determined by FAFSA and the University’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
• Have a current General Scholarship application on file
• Be enrolled half-time (6+ credit hours)
• Be an undergraduate student
• Have a declared major or minor in Industrial Design, Construction Project Management, Architecture or be pursuing one of the following majors in Art: BFA in Art, a BFA in Communication Design or a BA in Art
• Have a class standing of junior or senior
• Have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5 or higher
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Write an essay (500 words) to describe the following: (1) Why you are interested in a career in the design field and/or architecture and (2) In the field of design and/or architecture, how does having a diverse workforce benefit the industry, its
employees, and the community at large?
• If offered the opportunity, are you willing to accept mentoring and job shadowing opportunities that will aim to increase your confidence to pursue a career in design or architecture?

The scholarship is renewable (contingent upon funds) for multiple years, but student(s) must apply for the scholarship each year.

Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI):
• Scholarship recipients are eligible for a 1:1 matching contribution from the Foundation’s various Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative Funds (SH149, SH155, SH163).
• Recipient(s) must agree to and participate in wraparound services, maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0, and be a Colorado Resident. If recipient(s) do not meet the COSI criteria, then they will still receive the Changemakers in
Design Scholarship, but they will not receive the COSI matching award.
