Juan Solano, III Annual Scholarship
Purpose:
The Fund exists to provide scholarships to single parent students that have a declared major
within the University’s College of Business.
As a single parent, paying for school can be difficult. This Fund exists to ease the burden
many single parents face when trying to balance work, school, paying the bills, and spending
time with the family.
Juan Solano, III, his mother Janet Mills, and daughter Jennifer O’Connor, completed their
education as single parents. Together, they hope that in some small way that this scholarship
will assist others that find themselves in a similar situation of trying to improve their future
through education while seeing to the needs of their families.
Criteria:
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and
not be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid.
• Complete the University’s general scholarship application.
• Have financial need as determined by FAFSA/CASF A and the University’s Office of
Financial Aid and Scholarships.
• Have a declared major with the University’s College of Business.
• Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater
• Be an undergraduate student
• Be enrolled at least half time (6+ credit hours).
• Be a junior or senior at the time of the award
• Be a single parent
Qualified students may receive the award for two academic years.
