Kinnie Family Trust Degree Completion Scholarship

Purpose:
The Fund is established to provide scholarships to assist students that have a history of domestic violence and are utilizing the resources available from the University’s Gender Institute for Teaching and Advocacy (GITA) department to assist them over the finish line so that they can obtain their degree. Scholarships can assist with covering tuition, books, and fees.

Criteria:
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid
• Have financial need as determined by FAFSA/CASFA and the University’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
• Have a history of domestic violence and be utilizing the resources/services available from the GITA department
• Be a Senior, in your last year before graduation.
• Have a 2.5 cumulative GPA
• Be enrolled for at least 12 credits hours at the time the scholarship is received
• Upload a signed recommendation from a faculty or staff member within the GITA department

Preference is for one student to be awarded each academic year.
Preference is for a student that identifies as Woman, Trans, or a Gender Non-binary individual.
Preference is for a student who exhibits the greatest level of financial need.
The scholarship is available for a student classified as ASSET.
The scholarship award amount that the student receives can be flexible based on the needs of student and staff recommendations, but should not exceed $3000 per academic year.
