Chelsie Worth Celebration Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to continue Chelsie’s fierce commitment to and pride in the ability of an MSU Denver education to deliver a life-changing opportunity for a student.

Chelsie Marie Worth was a passionate bright light in the MSU Denver community. She was committed to science and to information visualization. And she was a brilliant cello player. Her paths of study touched on many fields at MSU Denver and she ultimately found her home in environmental science and geographic information systems. She was a dedicated and valued staff member of MSU Denver’s Center for Advanced Visualization and Experiential Analysis. An endowed scholarship lasts into perpetuity. By crowdsourcing contributions in Chelsie’s name, we create an open and accessible way by which we band together to carry forward her light and legacy to generations of current and future students.

Criteria:
• Be meeting MSU Denver’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater during the semester(s) the scholarship is received
• Have a declared completion credential (currently understood as a major or certificate) in Earth and Atmospheric Science Programs: majors in Applied Geology, Environmental Science, Geography, Geospatial Sciences and Meteorology, and certificate in Geographic Information Systems. If Earth and Atmospheric Sciences programs, departments, or completion credentials become renamed or restructured, this criterion shall adapt to completion credentials that most directly focus on physical and quantitative aspects of earth and atmospheric environments. The selection committee, at its option, may reach into a broader field of STEM completion credentials in order to find qualified students with earth and atmospheric science academic interests
• Applicants may be asked to write a short personal essay for review and consideration by selection committee

There is a preference for the recipients to have financial need, per FAFSA or the CASFA Application and the Metropolitan State University of Denver Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
