Vicki L. Golich, Ph.D. Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
The Fund is established to provide scholarships to current students designated as being emancipated out of foster youth, kinship care, orphan, or ward of the court.

The Fund was established by the MSU Denver campus community, friends, and family members of Vicki L. Golich to honor her retirement from MSU Denver as Provost, Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Chief Academic Officer and decades-long career in higher education.

Provost Golich dedicated her professional life to creating environments that help students, faculty, and staff achieve their personal and professional best. She joined the MSU Denver leadership team in 2009 after 17 years at California State University-San Marcos. During her tenure as MSU Denver’s chief academic officer, Golich made innumerable contributions to the Roadrunner community. Among those was her steadfast commitment to the support, development, and recognition of faculty. In 2019, she won the William M. Plater Award for Leadership in Civic Engagement from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. The honor recognized her dedication to engaging undergraduate students in the democratic process.

Despite her many achievements as provost and an extensive list of academic successes, Vicki Golich is most proud of working for an institution that changes students’ opportunities in life. She said that MSU Denver adds more value to people’s lives than any other university.

Criteria:
The scholarship recipient shall:
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state, or institutional aid
• Have financial need as determined by FAFSA/DAIA and the Metropolitan State University of Denver Office Financial Aid and Scholarships
• Be designated as emancipated out of foster youth, kinship care, orphan or ward of the court
• Intend to graduate from MSU Denver
• Maintain a 2.0 GPA
• Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours
• Be suffering from food or housing insecurity, or homelessness.

Preference is given to students who participate in the University’s EPIC Scholars Program
