Paul G. Davidson Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
Paul Davidson was a ranch boy from Las Animas, Colorado. He graduated from A&M (now CSU) in 1941 with an engineering degree. With the onset of WWII he was rejected by the military because of a rheumatic heart and was asked to serve his country by working in the US Steel mill in Gary, Indiana. There he met Bertha and they had one child, Diana. When the war was over, Paul longed to return to Colorado and in 1946, with the help of family to accumulate enough gas and tire ration stamps, he brought his young family to his home state. It was a difficult financial time after the war and since the family ranch could not support an additional family, he came to Denver for employment. He began work at Denver Fire Clay Company as a sales engineer and in 1956 ventured into business for him selling industrial equipment. With his venture he became aware of how important his education was and of the value a business education could offer. His industrial sales business, Equipment Specialties Company, became very successful but he died unexpectedly in 1982 at age 61. After his death, Bertha ran the business until its closure several years later. With this bequest, it is hoped that others can obtain a business education and have equal success in the business world.

Criteria:
• Have a declared major within the College of Business
• Have financial need, based on FAFSA
• Be a Colorado resident, preference for students coming from outside 7 county Metro Denver area
• Have a minimum 2.5 GPA and must retain minimum GPA during the duration of the scholarship funding
• Be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours

Scholarship is renewable each year (contingent on available funds) for up to five years or ten semesters (including summer) if the criteria is met, with one probationary semester possible;
Four awards will be made each year.
