Scott and Lisa Shaw Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Purpose:
Scott and Lisa Shaw were two highly motivated and passionate people that dedicated their lives to helping others, preserving the environment, and making a difference in the world. They were goal-oriented and driven and saw education as a way to achieve their goals. Both of them continued their education after their bachelor’s degrees. Scott graduated with honors from Metropolitan State University of Denver and earned an MBA with high honors at Regis University. He then fulfilled his life’s dream of becoming qualified to fly for the airlines. Lisa learned Spanish and spoke it fluently. Before marrying Scott, she worked as an AmeriCorps volunteer and then in a medical clinic that served low-income patients. She was very dedicated to preserving the environment and made adjustments and sacrifices to her lifestyle that reflected this dedication. At the time of her death, Lisa was in school studying to become a physician’s assistant. Scott and Lisa died together in a light plane crash while enjoying a short sightseeing flight with Lisa’s mother and brother. Tragically, none of them survived. After a thorough investigation, no cause for the crash was ever determined. Anyone that came into contact with these four people understands what this world has truly lost. Scott was 31 and Lisa was 30. Scott and Lisa accomplished a great deal in their short lifetime. They lived life to the fullest and would be honored to have their memory live on through this scholarship. They worked hard and played hard and spent just about every weekend hiking, climbing a 14er, mountain biking, snowboarding, sailing, taking road trips, camping or doing some other fun things. They would have chosen a recipient that is tenacious, conscientious, hard-working, and dedicated to helping others and preserving the environment. We created this scholarship in Scott and Lisa’s honor and memory to give a student with similar qualities some assistance in following his or her dream.
