Jack and Fran Kaufman Endowed Scholarship for Student Teaching, established by Cecelia Box
Purpose
The fund is established to provide financial support to students seeking professional teaching licensure during the semester of their full-time student teaching. The Donor was an Associate Professor in the Secondary Education Department from 1993-1999. During that time she observed first-hand the challenges and sacrifices students faced carrying the full-time commitment of student teaching, which, for so many, conflicted with their ability to support themselves at other jobs.
Jack Kaufman was an adjunct professor during the time the Donor taught at MSU Denver (then MSCD). Mr. Kaufman had retired from a long career as an elementary principal in the Boulder Valley Schools. His wife Fran was also a dedicated lifelong teacher. Many years into retirement, they both remain today, vitally active in their community, and deeply committed to public education.
