Robert S. Travis Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
The Fund is established to provide scholarships to students who, in spite of working full-time, would be unable to afford to attend Metropolitan State University of Denver concurrently without receiving financial aid.
This scholarship was established to honor Robert S. Travis, a 1974 graduate of then Metropolitan State College of Denver with a degree in Marketing. Bob was born in Wesleyville, Pennsylvania. He lived on a small family farm in North East, Pennsylvania through high school and then relocated to Cleveland, Ohio for work. He enrolled in night school at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. He and his wife relocated to Denver for a job with a subsidiary of Sears in 1969. He continued his night-school studies at Metro State while working full-time. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and a kind man who cared deeply for others.

Criteria:
• Be meeting MSU Denver’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state, or institutional aid
• Must identify as working 30 hours per week while attending the University
• Have 2.5 GPA
• Be a sophomore or higher class standing.
• Financial need as determined by FASFA/CASFA and MSU Denver Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
• Be registered for a minimum of 6 credit hours during each semester the scholarship is received.

Preference is given to Colorado residents and citizens of the United States. Non-citizens must have legally recognized status.
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships may add additional selection criteria in order to narrow the candidate pool as they see fit.
The objective of this scholarship is to provide awards that will meet the full cost of tuition and fees for one academic year. A partial scholarship may be given each year with the remaining funds.
