Judge William and Betty Naugle Endowed Scholarship
Purpose:
Judge William B. Naugle enjoyed a distinguished career in law, first in private practice and then on the Colorado Bench. He served for sixteen years in the 18th Judicial District, beginning as a juvenile judge, later handling a civil docket and finally, the criminal docket. During his years on the bench, Judge Naugle was a friend to young people. His philosophy was that some individuals might not have been in his court had they had an opportunity for an education. With this philosophy in mind, Judge Naugle’s wife, Betty Naugle, established this endowed scholarship to benefit MSU Denver students. Betty Naugle was instrumental in the creation of Metropolitan State University of Denver. She was a member of the governing board of the Trustees of the State Colleges for 13 years. She was also a founding member of the University’s Foundation Board. Betty had an honorary degree from MSU Denver, an Alumni Association Community Service Award and is an Emeritus member of the Foundation Board. Betty had been unfailing in her support of and loyalty to MSU Denver.
Criteria:
• Have a 2.5 GPA
• Have 30 credit hours completed
• Have a financial need as determined by FAFSA and the Metropolitan State University of Denver Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
• Have a declared major
• Be a full or part-time student
• Be a Colorado resident
