Dr. Paul Sidelko Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
The Fund exists to provide scholarships to students in the University’s Department of History. The Fund is established by family and friends of Dr. Paul Sidelko, to honor his time as a beloved professor of History at MSU Denver. Paul dedicated his life to teaching, and continuous exploration, and he instilled these traits in those lucky enough to know him. Paul was a treasured colleague, mentor, and teacher and touched many lives during his time at MSU Denver.

Criteria:
The scholarship recipient shall:
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid.
• Have a current General Scholarship application on file.
• Have financial need as determined by FAFSA/CASFA and the University’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
• Have a declared major in History.
• Be an undergraduate student at the University.
• Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
• Be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours during the semester(s) the scholarship is received.
• Dr. Sidelko’ s scholarly work was wide ranging. It included the Medieval world and the Modern Middle East. He did significant work with MSU Denver’s study abroad program and offered consistent support and advocacy for immigrant and refugee
students. Please write an essay (500 Words) that addresses your understanding of the challenges faced by refugees, immigrants, or other undocumented students.

Contingent upon the availability of funds, this scholarship is renewable if criteria continues to be met.
