Larry Strutton Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
Larry Strutton Endowed Scholarship Lawrence D. “Larry” Strutton, Publisher and CEO of Rocky Mountain news graduated from the Metropolitan State University of Denver with a BS in Business Management and Computer Sciences in 1971. He was a member of The Metropolitan State University of Denver Foundation Board and served as the president and chair of the Board since 1995. In 1987, he won the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Metropolitan State University of Denver Alumni Association and was the Plain & Fancy Ball’s Person of the Year in 1993. His concern for and support of the students of the College has been a shining example to the entire board and all those with whom he comes into contact. His leadership has helped develop one of the strongest foundation boards in Colorado, with leaders from all segments of the community. The purpose of the scholarship is to benefit a nontraditional student at MSU Denver. The award will be used to cover all or part of tuition, books, fees, and other educational expenses.

Criteria:
• Must have a declared major in Journalism, Computer Science, or a major within the College of Business
• Must be degree-seeking
• Have 30 credit hours completed
• Have financial need, based on FAFSA
• Be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours
• Be at least 21 years old
• Have a 2.5 GPA at end of freshmen year and during sophomore year; 3.0 junior and senior years

Based on the availability of funds, the scholarship is renewable for up to eight (8) semesters for those recipients who continue to meet eligibility requirements.
