Sage Hospitality Pacesetter Endowed Scholarship
Purpose:
The Sage Hospitality Pacesetter Endowment is a program dedicated to supporting promising MSU Denver students in pursuit of their educational goals. We are seeking students who:
• Are invested in participating in a community of scholars
• Seek leadership and volunteer opportunities
• Are dedicated to their academic and career development.
Scholarship awardees will be required to participate in a program that intends to remove barriers to educational access, create a sense of belonging, and support students to encourage persistence and to complete their degrees. The Program will also facilitate activities that allow students to “pay it forward,” giving back to their university, community, and other students. Scholars will receive financial assistance, support services, programming, and staff assistance tailored to meet their needs and address Program goals.
Criteria:
- Be admitted to the University and enrolled in at least 12 credit hours
- Have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5
- Be a declared major in the School of Hospitality
- Be seeking a bachelor’s degree
- Have a class standing of freshman, sophomore, or junior; (students within one year of graduation shall not qualify for this scholarship unless they were accepted into the Program prior to their senior year of study)
- Have low-to-moderate income levels
- Agree to complete the following participation requirements of the Sage Hospitality Scholars Program every semester
• At least 3 individual meetings with the Program Coordinator
• Participate in approximately 5 cohort meetings centering around career exploration, academic success, wellness, belonging, and more
• Complete FAFSA/CASFA and General Scholarship Application each year
• Answer the below supplemental questions:

1. What do you think is the top challenge hospitality organizations are facing, and what are some ways the challenge can be solved in the future?
2. This program seeks students that are committed to giving back to their community. Describe your experience in community service, or share volunteer opportunities you participated in. What was your motivation for participating in these activities? What insights do you have from these experiences?
Scholarship finalists will be asked to participate in virtual or in-person interviews.
