Niall Gardner Veterans Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
The Fund is established to provide scholarships to students at the University.
In honor of the memory of Niall Gardner, at the request of his parents, Linda and Neville Gardner, who are establishing the Fund with their own gifts and those of friends and family who contributed in Niall’s honor. Niall served our country as a Cavalry Scout as part of the United States Army serving in Iraq/Kuwait. Linda and Neville request that the University determine best and highest use of this scholarship fund utilizing the below criteria to guide selection.

Criteria:
The scholarship recipient shall:
• Be classified as a veteran and/or active duty service member.
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid.
• Be degree-seeking.
• Have financial need as determined by FAFSA/CASFA and the University’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Preference shall be given to students who are Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutrition Science and/or Nutrition Studies majors, students who intend to pursue careers in physical therapy, and students who help other veterans achieve success at school.
