Janice Gartshore Student Teaching Endowed Scholarship

Purpose
The Fund is established to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the University’s School of Education or in a School of Education approved teacher education program who are student teachers or residents. The Fund is created as a result of a generous gift from the Estate of Janice Gartshore.

Criteria
The scholai·ship recipient shall:
• Be meeting MSU Denver’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid.
• Have demonstrated financial need, with a preference for the recipient to have an EFC of $15,000 or less.
• Have completed all required coursework and obtained all qualifications to be eligible to be a resident or student teacher in one of the School of Education’s approved programs.
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
• Be a student-teacher or resident during the fall or spring semester. This scholarship is not available for summer teaching assignments.
• Be a resident or student teacher at any level (i.e. early childhood, elementary or secondary) or in any area of specialization (i.e. special education, aits, etc.) approved by the School.
• Meet with a representative from Roadways for a holistic college completion review (i.e. loan repayment options, additional sources of financial support, and appropriate referrals to University programs/resources.)
