Edwin D. Disborough Excellence in Leadership Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide a scholarship to a deserving student with a major within the College of Business at MSU Denver. The award will be used to cover all or part of tuition, fees, and other educational expenses.

To honor the memory of Edwin D. Disborough, Management Consultant, W. Leo Kiely, III has authorized this method of recognition of this valued member of the Coors Brewing Company team, who died in July of 1997 at the age of 69. Mr. Disborough’s 50-year career in business, academic and community service proved valuable to the Coors Company while the company was undergoing major changes in its corporate structure. A certified financial planner, he was the past president of the Student Leadership Institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder and trustee and regent at Regis University in Denver. He was actively involved with the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry. Prior to joining Coors, he taught in the College of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His dedication to education was well known and widely respected.

Criteria:
• Be degree-seeking with a declared major within the College of Business
• Have a 3.5 GPA or higher
• Be a junior or senior
• Be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours
• This is a merit-based scholarship, however, the applicant must have a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on record with The Metropolitan State College of Denver Office of Financial Aid.
• Must contribute to the student community at the Metropolitan State College of Denver by participating in mentoring, advocacy, and/or leadership development activities in such college-related programs as LINKS (mentoring – Title Ill); Peer Educators in First Year Program; Student Government; Student Organizations – Officer position; Student Activities Leadership Program; Admissions Ambassadors; Summer Bridge; Honors Program; Women’s Services; or SPAN (Student Problem Action Network).

Renewal (contingent on available funds) for 2 years only: the duration of the scholarship shall not exceed two academic years (a total of four semesters).
