Cohen Pacesetter Endowed Scholarship

Purpose
The Cohen Pacesetter Endowed Scholarship is a program dedicated to supporting promising MSU Denver students in pursuit of their educational goals. We are seeking students who:
• Are invested in participating in a community of scholars
• Seek leadership and volunteer opportunities
• Are dedicated to their academic and career development

Criteria
• Be admitted to the University and enrolled in at least 12 credit hours
• Have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5
• Be seeking a bachelor’s degree
• Have a class standing of freshman, sophomore, or junior
• Have low-to-moderate income levels
• Agree to complete the following participation requirements every semester:
• At least 2-3 individual meetings with the Program Coordinator (depending on class standing)
• At least 1 meeting with Peer Mentor
• Complete FAFSA/CAFSA and General Scholarship Application each year
• Participate in a volunteer event or activity
• Participate in at least 1 career-oriented event or resource
• Attend the Cohen Pacesetter Scholarship donor event
• Attend Cohen Pacesetter orientation/ kick-off
• Answer the below supplemental questions:
• Do you agree to the participation requirements of the program? Yes/No
• Will you be participating in intercollegiate athletics at MSU Denver during the 23-24 school year? Yes/No
• There are two mandatory short answer questions. Each response should address all parts of the question and be approximately 300 words.
1. Being a Cohen Pacesetter scholar is more than just receiving a scholarship. You will become part of a community, connect with Donors, complete academic and career success milestones, and will receive intentional wraparound
success coaching and advising. Please share why you are motivated to join a community of scholars. How will participating in the Cohen Scholarship Program support you in reaching your academic and career goals?
2. This program seeks students that are committed to giving back to their community. Describe your experience in community service, or share volunteer opportunities you participated in. What was your motivation for participating in these
activities? What insights do you have from these experiences?
Scholarship finalists will be asked to participate in virtual or in-person interviews.
The University shall make a good-faith effort to ensure that approximately 20% of scholars are student-athletes.
DACA/ASSET/ and Dreamer students are eligible for this scholarship
Renewal of the Scholarship is contingent on available funds.
