Nueva Esperanza (New Hope) Endowed Scholarship
Migrant farmworkers’ hard-won labor has fed our family and community all my life, so this scholarship is for them, especially the women who hold it all together. It comes with respect, gratitude and admiration for what migrant families have contributed to this nation and how they will change our future. Children of migrant farmworker families struggle fiercely for education and use their degrees to build a more just world. It is a pleasure to help them. The purpose of the scholarships is to annually benefit those, preferably women, with significant family responsibilities and a migrant worker family background.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or greater • Have a declared major • Be registered for a minimum of 6 credit hours during the semester(s) the scholarship is received. • Write an essay of approximately 250 words explaining how significant family responsibilities and a migrant worker’s family background have shaped the candidate’s life and personal and professional goals.
