James E. Wier Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
The fund is established to honor the late Mr. Wier, killed in the line of duty as a patrolman with the Denver Police Department, by providing financial assistance to Metropolitan State University of Denver students majoring in Criminal Justice and Criminology. James Wier was born in Denver and graduated from Englewood High School in 1979. He was married to Shawn Wier and they had two children. Mr. Wier’s parents, Norma and Ira, have continued to be strong advocates for this scholarship in memory of their son and in support of MSU Denver students.

Criteria:
• Be a Criminal Justice and Criminology major
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• The essay and community service detailed in the MSU Denver Scholarship Application will be a major factor in the selection of the recipient by the scholarship committee
