Reisher Scholars Program
The mission of the Reisher Scholars Program is to enable promising students from Colorado who show dedication to academics in addition to financial need the ability to graduate from college in a timely manner with minimal additional educational debt. The Reisher Scholarship helps strong students finish stronger!
The scholarship provides 3 years of funding for students after their first year of college, with the goal of helping students graduate in 4 years total with little to no debt. Scholars receive a $4,000 – $15,000 Reisher scholarship award, plus matching funds from MSU Denver each academic year to meet your total Cost of Attendance.
Eligibility
• Be in your first year of college post high-school graduation
• Have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Have financial need based on FAFSA – be Pell eligible
• Have a completed financial aid file
• Be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours
• Plan to enroll in at least 12 credits, 9 credits being in-person (not online) classes, each fall and spring semester while receiving the scholarship
• Be a Colorado resident
• Have an expected graduation date no later than May 2028 (some exceptions for Education majors)
• Must agree to work 10 hours per week, on or off campus, unless caring for dependent/sibling/parent, disabled, participating in an unpaid internship, etc.
• Have a total unmet financial need of at least $5,000
• Must demonstrate one or more of the following personal qualities: high motivation, goal-oriented, responsible/dependable, and demonstrate an indication of making a contribution to society
Scholarship finalists will be asked to participate in interviews.
Please note that only finalists for the scholarship will be contacted about the status of their application.
In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), educational institutions are prohibited from releasing student education records without your consent. Additional information regarding FERPA and educational records can be located in the university catalog on the MSU Denver webpage. By completing this application, you are authorizing MSU Denver to release ALL educational records, as defined in 20 U.S.C. 1232g, and which may include, but are not limited to, transcripts, social security number, and disciplinary records to the Denver Foundation and Reisher Scholarship Program if you are selected for the Reisher scholarship. Additionally, if selected for the Reisher scholarship you are authorizing MSU Denver to release updated alumni mailing addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses as well as employer names and positions to the Denver Foundation post-graduation. This authorization will remain in effect until student withdraws this authorization in writing to the Office of the Registrar.

- Essay Required. All applicants must write 2 short essays answering the questions below. The questions are in addition to the essay required by the MSU Denver Online General Scholarship Application. The essays should be typed, 12-point font, single spaced, and answer the following questions:
- How do you see earning your degree impacting your life and community? (500 Word Maximum)
- When you encounter barriers in life what motivates you to overcome those challenges and move forward? Please provide a specific example you are comfortable sharing of what motivated you, what step/actions you took to overcome that challenge, and the results. (500 Word Maximum)
