Choral Music Endowed Scholarship

Purpose:
The Fund is established to provide scholarships for MSU Denver Department of Music students who participate in the choral program and are in some way involved in the production of the annual Choral Celebration at MSU Denver. The Choral Celebration is a highly successful festival that brings roughly 40 high school choral ensembles to the King Center for two days of performances and choral clinics. This event, which is supported by MSU Denver student volunteers, producers, and performers, is one of the Department of Music’s most successful recruitment events.

Criteria:
• Be meeting MSU Denver’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
• Have participated in MSU Denver choral ensembles for at least two (2) consecutive semesters. Preference may be given to applicants who participate in more than one choral or vocal ensemble (including the Auraria Choir, Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, Chorale, Opera Ensemble, and Early Music Ensemble)
• Be enrolled for a minimum of six (6) credit hours during the semester(s) the scholarship is received
• Show exceptional dedication to the choral art as described in an essay
• Show exceptional dedication to the choral art as demonstrated by committed participation in the choral ensemble(s) (measured by attendance, leadership, preparation, involvement in the Choral Celebration, and collegiality)
