Margaret Rivera Scholarship

Purpose:
Margaret N. Rivera is an MSU Denver alumnus who was part of the grass-roots effort to establish the Auraria Campus. She continues to be passionate about the important role and mission of the University. Margaret was a member of the Alumni Board of Directors for several years and then served as Chair for two years before being invited to become a member of the MSU Denver Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors. She served on the Foundation Board for 20 years in addition to other volunteer activities at the University. Because of her involvement in K-12 education and background in higher education, and because of her love for the University, Margaret has been a donor to the University since 1987. She established the Margaret Rivera scholarship in 1994 to help single parents. As a single parent herself, she wanted to help MSU Denver students who were struggling to attain their degree. Margaret also wanted to honor the work and accomplishments of all MSU Denver students.
